Crave Theatre

We are a Theatre Company and Acting Studio for actors and creatives whose lives have been impacted by a dependence on alcohol or drugs.

We celebrate sobriety within the performing arts industry and provide transformative opportunities for those wishing to discover, or rediscover a desire to act.

Founded by actors who have themselves recovered from alcohol and drug addiction issues, the shared lived experience within our like-minded community, encourages both personal and professional growth through education and performance.

Proudly presented in collaboration with The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

Crave Theatre Company

Our Theatre Company provides a helping hand back into acting for experienced performers who previously left the business due to drug or alcohol misuse. We offer a range of refresher acting classes for our company members, and create new, public productions of classical and contemporary plays. Our company's work aims to reignite our performer's love for acting and develop their sobriety-engaged artistic process.

Crave Acting Studio

As well as providing refresher classes, our studio provides foundation level acting classes specifically tailored for untrained, aspiring actors in recovery. Our classes offer a range of skills and approaches and help those in recovery to potentially go on to further training or a career in the performing arts. Our studio also creates a pathway towards public perfomance in our own company's productions.

Crave Theatre COMMUNITY

Founded and led by professional actor and director Gavin Antony, who is himself 10 years sober, our company's ethos, vision and methods have been carefully curated to balance the needs of sober actor and prospective audience. Alongside our recovery engaged rehearsal practices, we strive to recalibrate public perception, remove shame, and promote visibility of sober excellence within the acting business.

SUPPORT US

Help us to Transform Lives

By donating towards our work you will be helping those who have experienced the deep pain of substance abuse, addiction and associated mental health issues, including self-harm and suicide attempts.

Our actors not only re-learn how to express themselves artistically but further educate themselves about their self-destructive nature and complex relationship with the world.

Through our empathetic approach our actors learn to self-reflect and self-examine which improves their ability to build emotional resilience and confidence. From this position they are better equipped to re-build their lives and create positive pathways towards new goals.

Any contribution towards our work via a one-off individual donation is greatly appreciated. Or you can become a recurring part of our community and form closer relationships with our creative team and performers by joining us as a Patron.
