Our Story
The CRAVE Theatre Company and Acting Studio was created in 2023 by professional actor and director Gavin Antony, who is himself nine years sober after 20 years of alcoholic drinking.
Run entirely by actors or teachers in recovery from alcohol or substance misuse, or who are dedicated to the Recoverist* movement, our facilitator's shared lived experience with our actors creates a sympathetic and empathetic working environment.
Our aim for our work is that to is condusive to, and supportive of exploration of oneself through text and through character. By encouraging self-discovery and developing emotional resilience we build together the practical tools and self-awareness and personal reflection which are vital for those on the path to recovery from addiction.

Our actors not only learn how to express themselves again but re-educate themselves about their self-destructive nature and complex relationship with the world.
Through our work our actors learn to examine themselves in order to build emotional resilience and confidence. This helps them to to build the life they could have done originally.
